Pain

Are you in pain?

Pain is the body's way of telling you there is something wrong.

Pain is quite useful, for example in injuries, as it will stop you using the sore body part, however pain sometimes occur when nothing is wrong, such as migraine.

There are some pains that need to be taken seriously.

Chest pain in the centre of the chest that radiates into the neck or left arm is an emergency (until proved otherwise.)- RING 999. (Heart Attack)

Sudden pain and visual disturbance in the eye or eyes should also be treated as an emergency especially if the eye is red.- go to casualty. (Acute glaucoma)

Sudden pain in the back of the head (described by sufferers as being 'hit with a baseball bat.') RING 999 (Subarachnoid haemorrhage)
